The Top 7 WoW Easter Eggs That Are Beyond Epic

By | March 21st, 2018 | Categories: World of Warcraft

Ever since late 2004, Blizzard have implemented WoW Easter Eggs into its MMORPG of legendary status and many of them are full of epic and greatness.

For this reason, we’ve compiled a neat list of the top 7 easter eggs in World of Warcraft that are 100% kick-ass. The chances are that you probably didn’t even know that some (if not most) of them even existed.

So fasten your seatbelts and read on – you don’t want to miss this one out since this post is WoW easter egg galore!

The 7 best easter eggs in WoW that are beyond awesome

While many of the easter eggs found in World of Warcraft are a nod to other successful Blizzard franchises, there are cross-references to other video games, movies, actors etc. Some are quite shocking so brace yourselves (although there’s nothing graphic of course)!

1. Harrison Jones – Indiana Jones

Mr. Jones is an archeologist and an explorer, much like a superb action hero that has a suspiciously similar name. In case you haven’t figured it out yourself already, let me help you – it’s Indiana Jones!

Yes, the same character played by no other than Harrison Ford in all four installments of the Indiana Jones films. And in WoW, Harrison Jones appeared on several occasions throughout the various expansions:

  • Harrison Jones was first introduced to us during TBC, in Zul’Aman
  • In WotLK, he was part of a quest in the Grizzly Hills, in which he helps you kill a massive cobra
  • During the Cataclysm, Mr. Jones appeared both as an archeologist trainer (archeology was brand new back then) in Stormwind and he also appeared in Uldum where he was supplying players with quests
  • After that, he made a very brief appearance in MoP, in Silvershard Mines
  • Currently, you can find him looking for a mighty artifact in Ashran

2. The three ogrons in Bloodmane Valley – A scene from The Hobbit

As a fan of both World of Warcraft and Tolkien’s fascinating, mythical world, I just had to put this one in second place. In essence, what we have here are 3 ogrons (found in the Spire of Arak, Bloodmane Valley) whose names sound somewhat familiar – Toom, Willum, and Bort.

And if that doesn’t ring a bell in your head, the three trolls that Bilbo Baggins encounters in the first part of The Hobbit trilogy are called – William, Bet and Tom.

Also, the ogrons in WoW are protecting twelve dwarven rings including Burglar’s Vest – yet another reference to Sir Peter Jackson’s blockbuster.

3. The tiny island in Sholazar Basin – Lost

There’s no doubt that Lost was one of the biggest TV series during 2004-2010 when the final episode of Lost aired. And during Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard paid homage to Lost by including a special easter egg in Sholazar Basin.

There, in Bittertide Lake, you’ll find a tiny isle that has a palm and a… door that sort of looks like a hatch. When you get closer you’ll find out that specific numbers appear – 5 9 16 17 24 43.

That might seem odd or just weird, but it’s actually related to the TV series mentioned above since the number sequence in Lost is only slightly different (just subtract one from each number) – 4 8 15 16 23 42.

4. Arnold Croman – Conan The Barbarian

This is undoubtedly one of the most hilarious easter eggs in WoW. Whether you’re an Arnie fan or not, Mr. Arnold Croman is super entertaining.

He was added in Warlords of Draenor as a brave Human Paladin that fights the Iron Horde at the Dark Portal, but eventually gets chained up.

Apart from being an apparent reference to the movie Conan the Barbarian, this NPC has a few additional tricks up its sleeve. He even quotes lines from other famous movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger – he also uses the legendary “I’ll be back” line.

5. NPCs in the Legerdemain Lounge in Dalaran – Friends

As you can see, Blizzard isn’t shy about including some of the most popular movies and characters in their Easter eggs and the mega-successful 90s comedy TV series called Friends makes no exception.

If you visit Dalaran’s Runeweaver Square and in particular – the Legerdemain Lounge, you’ll come across NPCs with familiar names – Rachele (the BE lady) and Roscoe (the Human guy), sitting opposite to each other.

Obviously, Rachele is Rachel from Friends and Roscoe is Ross. What makes the reference even more evident is that occasionally Rachele mentions that she’s wondering where Phoe’be is.

6. The Goblin Shredder (or Sky Golem) display – Sarah Kerrigan (Starcraft)

The Queen of Blades needs no introduction. Arguably one of the most recognizable characters that Blizzard have ever created, it’s only logical that she found her way into the easter egg section of WoW.

And if you want to enjoy the Zerg-ish/infested appearance of Sarah Kerrigan, the all that you have to do is hop on a Goblin Shredder or the Sky Golem mount and take a look at its display. Voila – you’ll be able to see the face of Mrs. Kerrigan indeed!

7. Jason Mathers – Jason from Friday the 13th

Jason Mathers is a fisherman that lives on the edge of Crystal Lake in Elwynn Forest. This one’s an obviously spooky reference to the horror classic called Friday the 13th that features the maniac Jason X.

Another mysterious and scary references to this guy can be found in Goldshire. If you ask a guard where the fishing trainer is, he’ll reply that the fisherman once fished up an unusual mask from Crystal Lake!
