Nintendo eShop Listing Glitch for NBA 2K24 Black Mamba Edition Allowed Users to Get the Game for $1
The NBA 2K games have always been relatively expensive during launch, but their value diminishes slowly as the months pass until the new season’s out. If we look at this year’s NBA 2K24—specifically the Black Mamba edition—it costs about $99.99 on the Nintendo Switch. The Black Mamba edition can be equivalent to a Digital Deluxe version for other games.
That’s quite a steep price, considering the NBA 2k games barely hold themselves together in the hybrid console. But Nintendo Switch users thinking of getting the game were in for a surprise when a glitch occurred in Peru’s Nintendo eShop. For a while, you could get the NBA 2K24 Black Mamba edition for the cheap price of $1.

Players Exploited the Glitch
The news of the glitch was reported by gamers who took to social media outlets to express their concerns over the “too good to be true” price tag. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that by changing their account location to Peru, they could exploit the glitch and get the game at a 99% discount.
All you had to do was go to your Nintendo eShop account through your phone or web browser and temporarily change your location to Peru via account settings. It’s unclear what caused the glitch. Many users thought that it was merely a pricing error on Nintendo’s part, but at the end of it all, folks were able to take advantage of the discounted price.
The Glitch Has Since Been Patched
Unfortunately, the glitch has since been patched on Peru’s Nintendo eShop for those who have yet to get on the trend. I’m surprised that Nintendo didn’t try changing the price until everyone learned about it. To say that several Nintendo Switch users were able to grab a copy of the NBA 2K24 Black Mamba edition is an understatement. The basketball game skyrocketed to the Nintendo eShop’s charts for Peru, becoming the third best-seller on the platform—a record for the franchise’s history on the Switch so far.
It’s Happened Before
Whether Nintendo or 2K sports take any retrospective action remains to be seen, but then again, there’s nothing they can do about it. Users who have bought the game can’t be banned for it, as the pricing error is Nintendo’s responsibility. Of course, it’s a different story if you try to jailbreak or hack your Nintendo Switch.
This incident happened before, specifically last year in India with FIFA 23. Players could get the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition for 5 INR (equivalent to $0.06) for a limited period. There’s also the time when Sifu only costs about $0.25 in the Argentina eShop. At the end of it all, the publishers and developers allowed buyers to keep their copies and enjoy the game. The same can be expected for the current circumstance.
