The Beacons in Lords of the Fallen are your primary points of interest aside from fighting bosses and creatures of the dark. These pyres offer more than just quest objectives because they can also provide great rewards for players. This guide will help players locate and cleanse the beacons.

What are the Beacons in Lords of the Fallen

The beacons are ancient artifacts designed by the gods to safeguard the world from darkness. These beacons harness the divine light and radiate a potent aura to ward off the encroaching darkness. Over time, however, these beacons have succumbed to corruption, which left them tainted and inoperable. This degradation has depleted their power, which allowed darkness to resurge and threaten the world again.

The Umbral Realm is linked to these beacons, a dimension of pure darkness. This realm is the dwelling place for the malevolent forces that pose a significant threat to the world. It’s the last line of defense from preventing the Umbral Realm from merging with the Realm of the Living. The player’s primary mission is the cleansing and restoration of these beacons. This vital endeavor aims to reignite the beacons’ strength by restoring their capacity to hold the darkness at bay and shield the world from its impending menace.

Beacon Locations

There are a total of four beacons in Lords of the Fallen. Each pyre will be in different locations you can access via Skyrest. Cleansing these beacons will provide various rewards and perks aside from quest objectives. Here are the sites of all the pyres in the game:

Why You Need to Cleanse the Beacons

Players need to cleanse the beacons to activate them once again. Doing so will allow them to resume their original roles as protective barriers from the Umbral Realm. In addition, Lampbearers also get tons of cool loot and rewards from purifying these pyres. Here‘s why you should cleanse these points of interest:

  • Each beacon you cleanse will give you a permanent boost to your stats. These bonus stats will help make you more powerful in combat and allow you to defeat more difficult enemies.
  • Cleansing the beacons will open up new areas of the game and give you access to new secrets. These areas and secrets may contain new weapons, armor, abilities, and lore.
  • Cleansing all five beacons is required to unlock the Radiant Ending.
  • Cleansing the beacon in the Upper Crath will also unlock the Lightreaper class.
  • Cleansing the beacon in the Vestige of Doln will also unlock the Umbral Remnant class.

What Happens if You Don’t Cleanse the Beacons?

Not cleansing the beacons will lead to some fascinating interactions with the world. However, the main expectation is that the game will get more complex the more beacons you do not cleanse. Here is what will happen if you choose not to purify these pyres:

  • If you do not cleanse the beacons, the world will become more corrupt and darker. This will make defeating enemies and progressing through the game more challenging.
  • The Radiant ending can only be acquired by lighting all four beacons. Choosing not to clean even one pyre will keep you from this specific outcome.
  • You need to cleanse the Upper Crath beacon to unlock the Lightreaper class. The specialization is a powerful class well-suited for melee and ranged combat, which you won’t be able to use.
  • You must cleanse the Vestige of Doln beacon to unlock the Umbral Remnant class. The Umbral Remnant class is a powerful class well-suited for dark magic, which will be barred from you do not light the pyre in Doln.

Should You Cleanse the Beacons or Not

It is highly recommended that you cleanse the beacons during your first playthrough. Doing so will ensure that you unlock all the available classes for your NG+. After that, you can avoid purifying any beacons to try out more challenging fights. If you choose not to cleanse any of these signal fires, check out hidden corners of the world to see if any collectibles are hiding nearby.
