Everything New About Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom
The new Fortnite Marvel season has finally been released. Here’s all you need to know about Chapter 5 of Season 4: Absolute Doom. Since this chapter is a collaboration with the Marvel franchise, expect a lot of familiar faces when you drop into the map.
Table of Contents
New Locations
With Marvel’s collaboration, the map has undergone a few changes. Doom has taken over the map, with three new POIs (Points of Interest) added, as well as two new landmarks.
Castle Doom
The imposing Castle Doom is the biggest POI in Chapter 5 Season 4. Players can explore the castle’s interior and exterior, such as its chambers and courtyard, and a nearby forge. With the castle being so massive, you’ll be able to find plenty of loot, but beware that you’ll have to face some of Doom’s henchmen as well.
Aside from his henchmen, the castle has its own defender, Doombot. You’ll encounter Doombot in the throne room, just sitting comfortably until you aggravate him. If you beat Doombot, you’ll be rewarded handsomely. Aside from the typical boss drops, Doombot will also drop the Siphon medallion. This reward will grant you the ability to regenerate health by leeching off of other players. This ability will only activate when you down an enemy player. You’ll also get Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets. Fortnite tweaked the gauntlets from the original version, so you can easily use Arcane Blast and the new Mystical Bombs ability.
Aside from the medallion and gauntlets, you’ll also recieve a Mythic Monarch Pistol, a new pistol added to Season 4. This pistol will deal significant damage with a single shot. It shoots like a hand cannon and has a slow fire rate when aiming down sight, but the fire rate is faster when hip firing.
Doomstadt
Doomstadt is the capital city in the fictional country of Latveria in the Marvel comics, which is under the rule of Doom. Fortnite has added the city as a POI in the game. You’ll be able to explore the city and collect loot, but be aware of a strong enemy who will be lurking around the city. If you drop into Doomstadt, you’ll encounter Mysterio as a boss in the city. He’ll start attacking and using his teleportation and illusions, such as his clones, to throw you off.
Once you defeat the master of illusions, he’ll drop the Stealth medallion. This medallion will give you invisibility and can be activated by holding down crouch. Mysterio will also drop a Mythic version of the Sovereign Shotgun. This shotgun will have a fast firing rate when shooting from the hip but lacks accuracy. You can opt to aim down sight, but that will make you slower.
The Raft
The Raft is a high-security prison that contains all the strongest villains in the Marvel Universe, and it has been put in the game as a POI for Season 4. The prison will contain plenty of loot, just like the previously mentioned POIs, and will be heavily guarded. Once you clear the nearby enemies, you’ll encounter the mutant Emma Frost chilling in her cellblock.
She’ll be a tough boss to beat due to her diamond skin barrier, but once defeated, you’ll receive the Reveal medallion, granting you the ability to see enemies nearby. You’ll also get the Mythic Striker Burst Rifle, which is just a moddable version of the Striker Burst Rifle. You can opt to remove the sight, so now you can use the Striker Burst from the hip, and Emma Frost’s version can deal a lot of damage.
New Crates
If you aren’t satisfied with the loot you find across the map from chests, Season 4 has also added new crates.
The Avengers Crate
The Avengers crate will be scattered across the map and if you find one, you’re guaranteed one of two things, Captain America’s Shield or War Machine’s gear, along with other loot such as guns, shield potions, and ammo.
The Doom Crate
The Doom crate will also be scattered across the map, mostly near Castle Doom, Doomstadt, and The Raft. Unlike the Avengers crate, the Doom crate will only give you high-tier guns and healing items.
New Weapons
The new Season will also feature new weapons, some of which have already been mentioned, but here are all the new weapons coming to Season 4: Absolute Doom.
Dual Micro SMGs
The Dual Micro SMGs are the latest addition to the Season. They are burst fire weapons and are fully automatic SMGs with a fast fire rate. The guns use light bullets for ammo, and they’re available in all the rarities.
Captain America’s Shield
Season 4 added Captain America’s Shield as a Mythic weapon that can be obtained through the Avengers crate. The shield has two primary uses which are throwing, using the alternate fire button to activate the throw, and shielding, to block bullets and other attacks.
War Machine’s Auto Turret
War Machine has been added to the game as a battle pass reward and his weapons have also been added. War Machine has 3 Mythic weapons that can be obtained through the Avengers crate. One of them is the Auto Turret, a backpack that has a gun attached to it, so you won’t need to aim or fire while using this weapon, it automatically shoots any enemies nearby.
War Machine’s Hover Jets
War Machine’s Hover Jets are similar to the game’s jetpacks. To use them, you just need to jump and then press the jump button again to start hovering. The Hover Jets have a limited amount of flight time, so you better keep a close watch on the fuel bar. The Hover Jets do have a cool-down period, and they recharge by themselves.
War Machine’s Arsenal
War Machine’s Arsenal is a powerhouse to be reckoned with; it’s a very useful offensive Mythic weapon that can fire bullets and shoot missiles. Out of the three Mythics War Machine has, the Arsenal is versatile. If you manage to get all three of War Machine’s Mythics you’ll be able to triumph and get a Victory Royale.
New Battle Pass
With the new Season collaborating with the Marvel franchise, the battle pass will contain many familiar faces from Marvel. Here are some of the notable new character skins you can unlock in Chapter 5, Season 4:
Gwenpool – Level 1
War Machine – Level 15
Peelverine – Level 30
Emma Frost – Level 45
Captain Jonesy – Level 65
Mysterio – Level 80
Shuri – Level 100
With the whole Season being focused on Doom, you’ll be able to unlock him as character skin. Since it’s only the start of the Season, you’ll have to wait for the Battle Pass Quests in September. While you wait for the Battle Pass quest, you can unlock the Doom Brella by getting a Victory Royale in any Solos, Duos, Trios, and Squad in Zero Build or Build Mode.
