Succeeding in the Fortnite Trios Mode

By | February 26th, 2019 | Categories: Fortnite

With all the potential contenders popping up in going for Fortnite’s place in the gaming industry, it seems almost as though Fortnite is on a defensive retreat – trying to keep up and stay relevant in an ever-changing community. However, recently they made an enormous stride in staying popular: they introduced the game mode Trios. In this Fortnite Trios guide, I will take you through everything you need to know about this game mode, how to be successful, and what it means for Fortnite as a whole.

What is Fortnite Trios for?

Simply put, it’s for anyone who enjoys the game. Specifically, though, the mode introduces an interesting new element that deserves to be commended: for all the people who have wanted to play the game, but only have a friend or two online, this is for you. I don’t know about you, mysterious reader, but there have been times a’ plenty where I have found myself staring at the screen with me and two of my friends and with no fourth to fill. It’s an annoying feeling, because you know you have to take a chance on complete random to complete your squad or run at a disadvantage. To confirm, this game mode is made up of you and two squad mates. That’s perhaps why game Apex Legends has grown an explosive popularity recently. Obviously, Fortnite is eager to jump on that bandwagon.

The way that Fortnite as introduced the mode is quite clever. They teased the release out over several occasions, successfully building up suspense and excitement before it even comes out. Now that is finally out, it will be seen if it is as successful as some anticipate. Some people, notably successful YouTubers, have made speculation that it could become the most popular game mode on Fortnite itself.

How do I play the game mode?

It’s simple. There are no special gimmicks or tricks, which is perhaps why it’s been received with such positive reinforcement. There are no zombies, no special abilities, and nothing else to suggest that this will be a Limited Time Mode. In other words, the developers were clever enough to remove everything except the base game to make sure there was no reason people would not play it. Personally, I believe a lot of the Limited Time Game Modes, although fun, quickly got irritating thanks to the extra factors thrown in. If I had a dollar for every time a swarm of zombies came and started mauling me when I was trying to loot, I would be a rich man.

Fortnite Trios has none of that, thankfully. However, there are certain differences in how you need to play to be successful. For those of you who are veterans of the game, you certainly know that each mode presents a unique gaming style in order to come out on top. Each one has different challenges, obstacles, and differences. The important thing to remember with Trios is that it’s a healthy mix between Squads and Duos. Should one of your teammates go down, it’s still possible that you will be successful.

What are the benefits?

No Duos

First off, the big one: you don’t have to have four people. No longer do you have to choose between running Duos or running a three-person squad which, I know for me, was always a magnificent pain in the backside. This game mode is more applicable to your average, every day gamer than regular squads. As somebody who personally plays quite frequently, I was always having to search for an extra to fill or be at a disadvantage. Now there is a game mode for just three people. I know, I know. It doesn’t sound like much… They just might be the invigorating kick Fortnite needs right now.

Second, more loot. Loot makes the world go ‘round, and here you get the lion’s share. More loot, better loot, and fewer people. It sounds like a recipe for success to me.

Third, fast but not insane combat. Some people enjoy the frenzied, frantic gameplay where four people on each team are jumping around, building, and shooting. Others find it stressful and too chaotic to think, making Duos the preferable method because of the slightly slower, more rational, fight style. You can predict where people will come from, you can prepare yourselves and play wisely, and otherwise will not get swarmed by three or four enemies at once. Unfortunately, if you get downed in Duos, the chance of your team surviving becomes minuscule. In Trios, you get the combination of the slightly more reasonable fighting and youstand a good chance of winning 2V3 makes it highly alluring.

What are the implications of this game mode being introduced now?

Since Trios is just in its inception, it’s difficult to predict exactly what will happen as a result of it being introduced. Like with all the new content, though, it puts forth a strong message: Fortnite will continue to release content and stay updated. With all the wild rumors of it being replaced with Apex and similar contenders, Fortnite is declaring that it’s here to stay.

In conclusion, Fortnite has weathered its fair share of obstacles and every time, it’s come out on top. Putting all speculation aside, Fortnite Trios is a fun, unique game mode that caters to a wider number of gamers. It takes in aspects from Duos and Squads and mixes it all together to create Trios. If you have not tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. If you’re like me, you’ll find it swiftly becoming your favorite game mode. I hoped you enjoyed this guide.

Until next time, get out there and have some fun!
