The Cycle: Frontier is a free-to-play PvPvE online Extraction Shooter video game that revolves around suspense and danger. Players would spawn into a map to combat each other while scavenging for supplies or high-value items to survive before escaping via an extraction point to win the game. Aside from enemy players, they will come face to face with an uncharted alien world called Fortuna III, inhabited by monsters with a deadly storm to avoid as it becomes more intense.

A valuable resource in The Cycle: Frontier is the raw materials available, which are the two types of plant resources called Green Brightcap Mushroom and Purple Brightcap Mushroom. This guide provides the best locations for the standard Green Brightcap Mushroom and the mutated variant Purple Brightcap Mushroom.

What Are Brightcap Mushrooms?

Brightcap Mushrooms, in general, are a resource that can only be found when a storm is brewing in The Cycle: Frontier. There are ways to survive storms on Fortuna III, but it is still a considerable risk, as players can take significant damage if they are not careful.

Players can use these Mushrooms to print Restoration Helmets and Restoration Shields to increase their character’s overall defenses. Each one is worth 506 K-Marks and grants five faction points to aid in leveling up factions.

Brightcap Mushroom Locations

Unlike other available resources in the game, Brightcap Mushrooms are only be found in one location, the Bright Sands. Like Waterweeds, you can find Mushrooms in humid areas west of Bright Sands near bodies of water.

The two main areas you would want to focus on when searching for standard Green Brightcap Mushrooms would be:

  • By the waters that are north of the Swamp
  • The other locations would be around the Jungle area and the Crashed Ship.

Where To Find Glowing (Purple) Brightcap Mushrooms?

Players may have stumbled across a recipe involving Glowing Brightcap Mushroom and need help finding one. Do not worry; we got you covered!

Glowing Brightcap Mushrooms are relatively easy to find as they are the standard green Mushrooms that have been mutated to glow purple once the storm approaches. Be light on your feet as the storm and its lightning can be very dangerous; you can expect to take damage when getting close to or inside the storm. Take an extra precaution by bringing enough healing items with you if you plan to collect the Glowing Brightcap Mushrooms.

What Can You Do With These Mushrooms?

These mushrooms are great for selling, and Osiris needs them for their rare properties. Even noting that it tastes good when prepared properly. You can use this item to complete missions, jobs, and printing recipes.

Missions

You need to use this item a total of 20 times to complete the following missions:

  • 2x for Dangerous Science: Part 4.

Printing Recipes

To be able to print an item, players would need to collect resources before approaching the Gear Printer on the Prospect Station. These resources are found on Fortuna III, and most recipes require K-Marks. The time it takes to print an item also depends on its rarity and the type of item you are printing. Brightcap Mushrooms are one of the many resources required for a recipe. We have gathered the following recipes that include Brightcap Mushrooms on the list:

Strong Stim: This item is available to Print without having to unlock anything or purchase from the Osiris faction armory when completing an appropriate mission. The recipe for this item is as follows:

  • 300 K-Marks
  • 1x Old Medicine
  • 1x Brightcap Mushroom

You can either print Strong Stims or purchase them from Osiris, which is worth 3000 K-Marks for five Strong Stims, but to be able to purchase one pack, you would need to complete a specific mission first.

Additional Tips

Pick Your Contracts

The key to getting the most out of every drop is to pick the suitable contract, as there is only one active contract per Faction. Refrain from taking contracts that require you to deliver resources. Your Brightcup will be more useful when crafting items or attachments. Prospectors should take PvP and hunting contracts as they provide the most substantial progress and do not reset when you die while also allowing you to complete more than one in a single drop if you are efficient enough.

Inventory Management and Selling

As you develop a good sense of playing The Cycle: Frontier, you will learn which items are worth keeping. You should always keep a stockpile of almost all available items and resources and sell any Rusty weapons currently at your disposal. This way, you would earn money and have enough resources to be rewarded with better weapons and items. The basic K-28 pistol is an example of a weapon you should sell, as this particular gun does not stand a chance when combating another player.

Crafting

Another tip for collecting resources like Brightcup Mushrooms is to visit the Crafting Bench often while taking note of items that benefit your playstyle. To add to that tip, you should avoid crafting weapon attachments early in the new season. Those crafting materials would cost you the chance to complete your contracts. It’s best to unlock your preferred weapons from each Faction instead; only then should you start investing in the craftable attachments.

Progress Wipes

Like everything else in life, everything good comes to an end, which also includes your collection of high-tier items that you have collected and the precious resources that you have scavenged. Progress wipes are not new to video games. Escape From Tarkov has a similar system that resets everything a player has accumulated in their inventory, and the hunt for resources and items begins again. That is why after every season, you would need to take whatever items you have and focus on upgrading them to be efficient before you lose them.
