A New Midsummer Event for Genshin Impact 3.8
We’re moving away from the Golden Apple Archipelago and into another temporary area for the summer. In Genshin Impact’s version 3.8, Travelers will be able to explore Bottleland, a sort-of theme park made by Alice for Klee.
As with any event concerning this mother-and-daughter pair, there are many fun events to do in Bottleland. The livestream last June 23 showed what we can expect and a fun little bonus at the end.
Table of Contents
Character Banners
While there are no new characters introduced, after so long, Eula finally gets a rerun. Klee accompanies her during the first phase of the update. Their weapons will run alongside them. It’s the Song of Broken Pines for Eula and the Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds for Klee.
The second phase brings back Sangonomiya Kokomi and the Wanderer. As usual, the Epitome Invocation will feature their signature weapons, Everlasting Moonglow (Kokomi) and Tulaytullah’s Remembrance. Since we know that the featured characters in the game have something to do with the quests in the version, the Wanderer plays a mysterious role.
New Character Skins
That’s right, there will be new character skins for Klee and Kaeya! Klee’s adorable mage outfit, Blossoming Starlight, truly enhances her role as a mage in the play. With the little witchy hat and bows on her dress, she’s ready to make magic happen.
Kaeya’s outfit is the Sailwind Shadow. His role is a thief in the play, and it shows. The outfit is both pirate-y and yet regal. Be careful, though; he’s got many daggers stored in it. Of course, they’re just props, but you never know with the Captain’s mischievous streak.
While there’s no mention of price, leaks state that Klee’s outfit is a 4-star skin, meaning it will cost as much as Jean’s. Kaeya’s alternate clothing can be earned if you participate in the event. Afterward, it’s worth as much as Barbara’s and Fischl’s.
New Events
Secret Summer Paradise
The flagship event is the Secret Summer Paradise. As the main topic of the update, it will have quests that relate to it. Also, it has multiple minigames and features to keep Travelers occupied throughout its duration.
Spino Blaster
With the Crocomorph Vortex-Based Crocodilian-Armored Heavy Naval Battleship-Style Recreational Water Blasting Cannon, shoot down the targets that appear. Hit as many as you can within the time limit. There are several different types of balls to shoot at:
- Ordinormie
- Tinyvantage
- Brouhaha
- Overdrive
- Dual-Charged Target
Each one has special effects (except the first). For example, Overdrive can put the Cannon in a state of infinite ammo. It’s time to go wild on shooting when it’s active! Learn the effects of the other targets and take advantage of them!
Sojourns of the Barking Fox
Suppose you’ve explored the newest areas in the Sumeru Desert (the Realm of Farakhkert and Gavireh Lajavard). In that case, this is a similar activity to using Sorush. You’ll control the Barking Fox through an obstacle course within a time limit. Along the way, collect as many Adventure Coins as you can while avoiding specific obstacles such as Sleetdross Fruit or Disruptor Orbs.
The latter can send out Disruptor Waves, which don’t deal damage when it hits you but reduces your time limit and the score you can earn.
Dance of Flashing Thought
This is a combat minigame, though it sounds like a rhythm-based one. Its mechanics are inspired by the theater arts. Each stage (pun intended) has unique features, and you can set up the party so you can benefit from them.
Defeating enemies within combat accumulates Honed Will. When you’ve gathered enough, you get Honed Focus effects. The one shown in the livestream is a spotlight that follows the character. The light damages and defeats enemies while speeding up the unit’s movement speed. It could be different in other stages.
Bing-Bang Finchball
In this minigame, you’ll launch Finchballs so they stop at specific areas in the field. There are several kinds with different effects, and you can only send them out in the order provided. Take advantage of those effects and land the most Finches in the highest-scoring areas!
Other Attractions
Aside from the above minigames, there are many other things to enjoy in Bottleland.
First are the Joyeux Vouchers, which are hidden across Bottleland. They might be in plain sight, while others might need the help of a tool. One of them is a crystal that can reveal the positions of nearby Vouchers. Several others can help you get the rewards from collecting them. Chief of which is Kaeya’s skin!
Then there are the Preprints. Streaming Projectors are everywhere in the Veluriyam Mirage. If you push an object in one, it appears in the projection, which you can use to reach the goals. However, they might be 3D in the real world, but they’re projected as 2D. It will take some clever rearrangements to successfully complete the challenge.
Lastly, there’s the Choo-Choo Cart. It’s a rollercoaster that can bring you to other areas of Bottleland (also called the Veluriyam Mirage).
Rewards
There are the usual Primogems and Ascension Materials, but more importantly, this event rewards Travelers with Kaeya’s skin. It will also provide one Crown of Knowledge for maxing out your character’s talents.
Lastly, you can get a free Layla (or her Constellation upgrade) when participating in the event.
Perilous Expedition
A Liyue scholar wants to study the geography and hydrology of Sumeru. Despite that, what Travelers need to do is fight enemies in a domain to complete the event. One opens each day; depending on the team composition, you can get buffs to help.
Shared Sight
An Amurta researcher needs help in their research. Use the Inscribed Mirror to find the small animals they need to complete their experiments. A device linked to the Mirror allows you to view the environment through the critter’s point of view.
From what you can see through that, deduce the creature’s location and collect it.
Adventurer’s Trials: Advanced
The Branch Master of Mondstadt’s Adventurer’s Guild has considered new challenges for Rookie Adventurers. There are two kinds, Sequential and Fortuitous. In the former, Travelers must complete three consecutive activities in a sequence. The latter only means that the challenges are randomized.
Judging by the footage, this can also be a co-op event.
TCG Update
The Genius Invokation TCG will also get updates! More character cards, and a brand new event, the Forge Realm’s Temper: Endless Swarm, will be available. It will feature different stages with different rules; you’ll need all your wits to get through them. The more enemies you defeat, the more points you’ll earn!
Events Outside the Game’s Universe
HoYoFEST 2023
HoyoFEST will be back in July, bringing a new wave of fan content to the forefront. Everything from tragedy to action and comedy stories will be featured. Good luck to all the fans who contribute!
The Shimmering Voyage Vol. 3
The Shimmering Voyage Vol. 3 will contain music from the entire 3.x series of updates. From event music to those you only heard once through quests, they’re all here. With the album’s release, you can listen to them again!
This will come out simultaneously with the game’s version 3.8.
Fontaine Teaser #2
At the end of the livestream was another teaser of Fontaine. Though Alice narrates about a Melusine, there’s a lot of information about the next region of the game.
First, the city looks clean, and there’s none of the pollution or industrialization some NPCs have hinted at. Though we only see a small portion, there could be another side to the city we didn’t see. The clip shows a few buildings, such as a fashion house, a possible theater or music instrument store, a flower shop, and more. Eagle-eyed viewers might also spot some robots roaming around the streets.
Then, the Melusine also goes down to the sewers. In contrast to her confident stride in the cleaner areas of the city, she’s more cautious in the canals. The people seen are less well-off and live in abject poverty and squalor. The overground and underground are foils to each other.
Besides those, we also see a transport ship (it travels through elevated waterways), but it doesn’t need sails like the others in-game. Then there’s an important-looking building theorized to be either the Court of Fontaine or the Steambird Headquarters. The former is more likely than the latter, though.
Most importantly, we see the diving feature! Aether dives into the water, seamlessly going into the underwater area. We don’t know if there are oxygen or stamina bars. However, it is speculated that Hydrograna will help with underwater exploration.
There will be a bit of combat, though not the full-fledged system off-shore. The Traveler can create shields or Hydro waves to deter hostile creatures or solve puzzles for chests. Only Aether or Lumine can likely use this feature, as providing animations for the 60+ characters you can use is daunting. Also, it could be a secondary requirement to have them tuned to Hydro to do this.
Look Forward to Genshin Impact 3.8!
This update will go live on July 5, 2023. We’ll be able to explore Bottleland and have fun with Klee and the others through the flagship event. When that’s done, many other things are going on in-game to keep us occupied until the release of Fontaine in Genshin Impact 4.0.
HoYoVerse regularly times the new region release after a summer event, so we can expect version 4.0 next (not a 3.9). That update comes very close to the game’s anniversary (it ends the day before!), but the next one (4.1) is the version that includes it.
Fontaine is so close now. What secrets and revelations can we find in the Land of Hydro? We’ll finally see why the chapter is called the ‘Masquerade of the Guilty’ and be one step closer to the truth the sibling wants us to see.
With every new region, we get closer and closer to the mysteries of Khaenri’ah, the Fatui, and the Abyss. Let’s look forward to the new country and the characters we can meet.
In the meantime, let’s continue enjoying the rest of Genshin Impact 3.7!
