- Rewards
To kick off this quest, let’s take a look at the required skills and items that we will need to take with us.
Table of Contents
OSRS Fairy Tale Part 1 Quest Requirements
For this quest, you will need to have finished a number of quests, including Lost City, Nature Spirit, The Restless Ghost, and Priest in Peril. You will also need the ability to be able to overcome a level 111 Tanglefoot.
Item wise, you will need a few items that are obtainable in the quest such as Secateurs, the Draynor skull, and a Spade. You will also need a Dramen/Lunar staff, and a Ghostspeak amulet. It isn’t required, but you should take teleports to Varrock, Falador and Lumbridge to help you out.
Fairy Tale Part 1 Step-by-Step Guide – Starting the Quest
Our quest starts in Draynor Village, where you will need to speak to Martin the Master Gardener found near the pig pen to the north-west. He suspects that something is wrong with the roses he has been growing, and will ask you to speak to other members of the Group of Advanced Gardeners, often abbreviated to G.A.G.
Speaking to the Gardeners
Find any of the gardeners that are found near the farming patches and ask if they are members of the G.A.G. You need to speak to five in total, who can be found in a variety of locations. You can find Vasquen and Fayeth near Lumbridge Castle, Heskel and Frizzy Skernip in Falador near the cabbage and tree patches respectively, and Dreven at the bush patch by the Champions’ Guild. There are other members to find, but you will only need to speak with five of them.
You will be given the impression that this might be the work of fairies, so head back to Martin in Draynor and let him know the differing opinions of the gardeners. After doing so, take your Dramen staff then go south-east and head to Zanaris. You will find a house in the centre of Lumbridge Swamp, head in with your Dramen staff equipped to reach Zanaris.
To Zanaris
Go towards the Fairy Queen’s throne room, where you will find the Fairy Godfather in the queen’s place. You will be told that the queen has fallen ill, and is being cared for by Fairy Nuff. Go west and head to the northern room from the bank to find Fairy Nuff. Speak to her to get the details of what is making the queen ill, and you will be given a list to be given to Zandar Horfyre.
Our next stop now that we have the Symptoms list is to go to the wizard known as Zandar Horfyre. You will find him on the top floor of the Dark Wizards’ Tower, which can be found to the west of Falador. He will take the list from you then suggest speaking to Malignius Mortifier, who is to the east of the Crafting Guild. Speaking to him will see him wanting something from you first, specifically a Draynor skull found near the Draynor Manor. Go there and dig up the grave, and give it to him to get to the next part of the quest.
Secateurs for the Tanglefoot
Malignius will tell you about the queen’s main issue being due to the creature known as Tanglefoot. Malignius will need you to get enchanted Secateurs in order to kill it, so you will need to take a pair of them along with three other items over to the Nature Grotto. The items that you take are chosen at random, so check your quest journal to see what you need.
Tanglefoot Battle
Your next stop is to the Nature Grotto, which is found in Mort Myre Swamp. To get the Magic Secateurs, go and speak to the Nature Spirit whilst you have your Ghostspeak amulet equipped. After they have been blessed, head back to Zanaris and prepare yourself for the upcoming battle.
When you are ready, go to the south of the wheat fields to find the Cosmic altar. You will be able to spot a gap in the wall to the west, so squeeze through here. Head down the tunnel and equip your Magic Secateurs to kill the Tanglefoot.
One really important point to make here is that you should not attempt this at a low-level. You should have at least a combined Strength and Farming level of 30 to do any significant damage to Tanglefoot, even if you have Magic Secateurs. You may also have to deal with some baby Tanglefoot which are at level 45.
After the Tanglefoot has been beaten, you should have the Queen’s Secatuers in your inventory, so head back to the Fairy Godfather. Talk to him one final time to finish the quest.
OSRS Fairy Tale Part 1 Quest Rewards
For completing this quest, you will receive two Quest points. You now also have the Magic Secateurs, which will increase crop harvests by 10% if you choose to do any farming. There’s also some experience to be gained, with 3,500 Farming XP, 2,000 Attack XP, and 1,000 XP being awarded to you, which is great if you are working on those skills.
Given the title of the quest, as you can imagine there is a follow-up quest in the form of Fairytale II – Cure of a Queen. So as you have probably guessed by now, you will need to have completed this first part in order to gain access to the following quest.
Conclusion
So that’s it for the OSRS Fairytale Part I. Of course, the story doesn’t end there, and there is still further adventure left and a story to be unfolded as to what is really going on in the world of RuneScape. Now that you have overcome this first hurdle, its time for you to move on and see what Cure of a Queen is really all about, and how the narrative plays out even further. For the time being however, congratulations on beating Growing Pains!
