World Of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

WOW Warlords of Draenor is an upcoming expansion to the wildly popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. Warlords of Draenor has recently been released to the public in beta form. Set in an alternate universe upon the eponymous world of Draenor, it follows the game’s fourth expansion, Mists of Pandaria.

It is scheduled for official release on Nov. 13.

For those unaware, expansions act as official add-ons for games which may introduce additional weapons, characters, items, areas, and storylines. They are often purchased separately from the original games they are attached to, and their unique content can often be used interchangeably with items from said games. In the case of Warlords of Draenor, WoW’s existing level cap will be raised from 90 to 100. Character models will also receive a visual overhaul, and players will now be able to build and upgrade their own unique garrisons.

The Expectations:

Despite Blizzard’s best efforts, critical response to Warlords of Draenor has been rather lukewarm. Common criticisms include a greater emphasis on linear storytelling and gameplay, as well as a cliche and unengaging plot. While none have rendered the game unplayable, several bugs have also been discovered.

Though it is difficult to judge the completed game based on the content of the beta version, so far, things are not looking too bright in the future of Warlords of Draenor, and considering that World of Warcraft has been subjected to a dramatic decline in subscriber numbers in the past few years, the future of WoW itself seems dim.
