By | September 16th, 2018 | Categories: World of Warcraft

With every new expansion, Blizzard introduces a number of changes to certain gameplay mechanics, including modifications to damage dealing classes. And you’re probably wondering about WoW BfA DPS Rankings and which class does the most damage at the moment?

Give yourself a pat on the back because today’s post is entirely dedicated to highlighting the class that does the most in-game damage right now.

We’ll be taking a closer look at relevant DPS rankings and what these have to say about what the best DPS class is – so make sure to not skip the following paragraphs!

What do the current WoW BfA DPS Rankings show? Which Class does the most damage?

Arcane Mages do the most damage per second currently, according to Noxxic’s DPS Rankings for patch 8.0.1. While that may or may not shock some of you, let’s have a detailed look at each of the top five damage dealings classes and specs in the current state of the brand new expansion (based on single-target damage data).

Gold Medalist

1. Arcane Mage (13.072 DPS)

While Arcane Mages were kind of a quirky and unorthodox build for Mages back in the days, they’re now topping the DPS charts in Battle for Azeroth. Here are their top three abilities that pack the biggest punch:

  1. Arcane Blast – 50,632% of the entire DPS done
  2. Arcane Barrage – 33,327% of the entire DPS done
  3. Arcane Missiles – 8,443% of the entire DPS done

And here’s the most optimal talent build that will deliver this mind-blowing DPS stats:

Silver Medalist

2. Enhancement Shaman (12.949 DPS)

Ench Shamans have always been a force to be reckoned with and in BfA, all of you DPS-specced Shammy fans can rejoice – your favorite class/spec combo is the second best in Noxxic’s DPS rankings list. And these are the three abilities that deal the most damage:

  1. Stormstrike (Main Hand) – 21,965% of the entire DPS done
  2. Stormstrike (Off Hand) – 10,975% of the entire DPS done
  3. Auto Attack (Main Hand) – 9,211% of the entire DPS done

Now, time to see what’s the exact talent build that brings those fascinating numbers:

Bronze Medalist

3. Subtlety Rogue (12.835 DPS)

Nothing shocking here since Rogues are class that was designed by Blizzard to do one (and only one) thing since day one – to deal damage! That’s why we have Subtlety Rogues at number three here and these are the top 3 abilities that’ll literally annihilate your enemies:

  1. Eviscerate – 34,749% of the entire DPS done
  2. Shadowstrike – 26,322% of the entire DPS done
  3. Backstab – 11,192% of the entire DPS done

And this is the appropriate talent build for max-DPS Subtlety Rogues:

4th Place

4. Affliction Warlock (12.805 DPS)

Ah, good old Warlocks. Love them or hate them, they’ve always been a very DPS-friendly class, currently mainly in their Affliction disguise. Thus, in case you’re wondering which are the top 3 abilities that will give the most oomph to your damage per second, here they are:

  1. Shadow Bolt – 23,88% of the entire DPS done
  2. Corruption – 15,407% of the entire DPS done
  3. Deathbolt – 13,889% of the entire DPS done

Curious about the precise talent specification that’ll skyrocket the DPS for your Warlock? There you go:

Fifth Place

5. Retribution Paladin (12.780 DPS)

Retri Paladins have never exactly been the go-to class when it comes to dealing huge amounts of damage, although they’ve always been able to do pretty respectable amounts of DPS. And here they are, ranking higher than Outlaw Rogues and Survival Hunters in the current DPS rankings. These are their top 3 DPS abilities:

  1. Templar’s Verdict – 31,791% of the entire DPS done
  2. Melee Attack – 12,885% of the entire DPS done
  3. Blade of Justice – 10,177% of the entire DPS done

And this kind of Retri DPS comes with the following talent setup:

  • Tier 1 (lvl. 15) – Righteous Verdict
  • Tier 2 (lvl. 30) – Hammer of Wrath
  • Tier 3 (lvl. 45) – Whichever talent you prefer
  • Tier 4 (lvl. 60) – Wake of Ashes
  • Tier 5 (lvl. 75) – Whichever talent you prefer
  • Tier 6 (lvl. 90) – Whichever talent you prefer
  • Tier 7 (lvl. 100) – Inquisition

How is all this DPS data gathered though?

All of the information regarding DPS statistics, abilities and spells that do the most damage and specific talent builds are based on the popular SimulationCraft program.

SimulationCraft is definitely the most used and widespread tool that simulates in-game encounters and particular situations (e.g. single-target DPS). Obviously, it’s worth noting that in-game data may differ from simulated or even log-based data, so keep that in mind.

Wrapping It Up

So there you have it folks – Arcane Mages are the class/spec combo that deals the Best DPS in WoW in-game at the moment. We’re obviously at the infant stages of Battle for Azeroth right now, so that’s most likely going to change, but in the meantime, all Mages have a reason to boast!

What’s your favorite class and spec combination btw? Do let us know in the comment section below! Thanks for scoping this WoW BfA DPS Rankings article.
