When Will WoW BfA Flying Become Available and How to Unlock It?

By | March 25th, 2019 | Categories: World of Warcraft

Ever since the release of Warlords of Draenor, flying in World of Warcraft has become synonymous with completing a series of achievements in order to unlock flying. And because each new expansion brings thematic new zones, you’d have to unlock these specific achievements in order to be able to fly across them. What about WoW BfA Flying though – is it going to be available anytime soon and how do you unlock it?

Blizzard hasn’t announced an official date on which flying across Zandalar and Kul Tiras will become available. However, we may speculate that the 2nd part of the BfA pathfinder meta achievement will be added to the game sometime in spring 2019. Or perhaps an even more accurate estimation would be a release sometime midway between the expansion point. This is obviously an estimation based on the pathfinder release timeframe in Legion.

So far though, the closest you’ll ever get to unlocking flying in Battle for Azeroth is by completing the Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part One meta achievement. And that’s why we’ll now take a closer look at how to do just that!

How can I complete BfA Pathfinder part 1?

By completing 5 different achievements

  1. Battle for Azeroth Explorer
  2. Azerothian Diplomat
  3. Wide World of Quests
  4. Loremaster of Kul Tiras (Alliance)/Zandalar Forever! (Horde)
  5. Ready for War (Alliance)/Ready for War (Horde).

As a result, you’ll get the Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part One meta achievement that gives your character 20% increased mount speed in the two new BfA continents.

Also, the BfA Pathfinder part 1 meta-achievement is account-wide, meaning that you can complete the required achievements on different characters, although they can’t be from opposing factions. As of patch 8.1 players have access to 2 flight points on the two new continents – 7th Legion Scouting Map and Honorbound Scouting Map. And to unlock these new flight points you’ll have to complete BfA Pathinder part 1.

Completing BfA Pathfinder, Part One (Alliance Character)

Required Achievements on the Alliance side

Battle for Azeroth Explorer
Azerothian Diplomat

The only difference here is that you’ll have to reach Revered reputation with 6 different factions:

Wide World of Quests
  • Finish 100 different quests in the 2 new BfA continents
Loremaster of Kul Tiras

Completing the storyline in Stormsong Valley, Tiragarde Sound and Drustvar will give you these 3 achievements:

Ready for War (Alliance)

This one requires you to complete the Alliance War Campaign in Zandalar and Kul Tiras.

Completing BfA Pathfinder, Part One (Horde Character)

And this is what you’ll have to do in order to unlock the first step towards flying in BfA with a Horde toon:

Battle for Azeroth Explorer
Azerothian Diplomat

Just as in the Alliance version, you’ll have to get to Revered with several different factions, this time geared towards Horde players:

Wide World of Quests
  • Finish 100 of them (different quests) in both Zandalar and Kul Tiras
Zandalar Forever!

Just like the Alliance storylines, here you’ll have to complete the Vol’dun, Zuldazar and Nazmir Horde storylines, the thematic Blood Gate quest chain and the following achievements:

Ready for War (Horde)

In order to get this meta achievement, you’ll need to complete the Horde War Campaign.

How do I track my BfA Pathfinder progress?

Easy, all that you have to do is go to WoWhead’s Flying Tracker to see how close you are to unlocking the BfA Pathfinder part 1 achievement. It’s quite simple and straightforward as you simply need to enter the region (EU, US, TW etc.), realm and name of your character and then hit “Load.” This will show you how many criteria are left until you complete part one of the BfA flying achievements.

Even better, this pathfinder tracking tool isn’t exclusive to Battle for Azeroth flying. You can check your progress on The Broken Isles or Draenor pathfinder meta achievements as well!

What about the BfA Pathfinder Part 2 release date?

As previously mentioned, there’s no official release date for the 2nd part of the BfA pathfinder achievement. We can only speculate that it’ll come out soon, judging on when the Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two came in Legion. In fact, The Broken Isles part 2 was added to the game approximately 7 months after Legion was initially released. And if Blizzard follows the same schedule, we can expect the BfA pathfinder part 2 to be released sometime around March/April 2019!

Conclusion

There’s no doubt that being able to fly over all the beautiful new zones of Battle for Azeroth is one of the highlights of the expansion. I’d even dare to say that adding WoW BfA Flying (introduced with The Burning Crusade expansion) was one of the best things Blizzard did to the WoW universe. And now, we’re super close to having the privilege to fly across mesmerizing zones like Tiragarde, Zuldazar and Stormsong.

Over to you now – have you completed theBattle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part One yet or are you waiting for part 2 to be released, because you can’t be bothered otherwise? Let us know by leaving your answer in the comment section below!

Why do Blizzard delay this achievement ??
I returned to wow late in Legion and experienced all the content; flying was available and my main got it in about a month. Legion was fun for me.
Began BFA from the release and this waiting for flying is just dumb and causing me to rethink my subscription and ultimately if wow is what I want to do anymore. (Played from 2005 to now, with only one major break)
IMHO flying should be released about 6 months into the game, not this long drawn out process. Maybe if I had more to do and explore now it might be ok, but there’s really nothing left in this expansion that I want to do. Flying now won’t be the same as it was in Legion. It wont keep me wanting to play.

    anyway my 2 cents …
