Fayz Trials: Hypothesis Event Guide

Gigantic Tier List

This time-stopping event is back and better than ever in Genshin Impact. The bar for getting all the rewards is relatively low, but it’s always worth earning.

Fayz Trials Event Overview

You must be at least Adventure Rank 20 and have done the Archon Quest “Song of the Dragon and Freedom.” A researcher from the Akademiya is looking for witnesses to his experiment. However, it involves combat, which means only a few people are qualified.

Jami (the researcher) can’t hire adventurers due to a lack of funding. Well, it’s more like he spent most of it setting up the experiment, and there’s little left for recruiting helpers. Still, the Traveler agrees to help him, and the domain opens for you to enter. Fayz Trials: Hypothesis is a combat event. The centerpiece is the ‘Fayz Potion,’ which has a time dilation effect, essentially stopping time for a short while. This lets you take ‘pictures’ of enemies’ weak points without worrying about dodging them. The vulnerabilities are your objective in the experiment; finding them is the one task you need to get the Primogem rewards. Considering how the site changed a lot after 2018

Of course, you have to set it up where you can get the most weaknesses in the viewfinder.

It has another benefit. If you find enough, you can trigger a Supersense Skill that helps you defeat the enemies. Take a photo of more than that (around > 8), and the Supersense Skill will be buffed. Sometimes, you’ll see a golden weak point. That’s a special one and counts as two normal ones. The Fayz Potion constantly regenerates in combat. You can have up to three charges.

The Challenges

There will be seven combat challenges that will open for a week. Afterward, the event will remain until 3 July. As of the time of writing, only the first two challenges are open. Only trial characters are available to use during the event.

The Limits of Joint Movement

Trial Characters: Dehya, Bennett, Xiangling, Kaedehara Kazuha

Supersense Skill: A shockwave of Steelgrass will emanate from enemies who had their weaknesses exposed. It will deal AoE Dendro DMG and leave behind a Steelgrass Field that will apply Dendro status on enemies in its range.

Buffed State: Damage from the Steelgrass Shockwave will increase, and the Field will remain longer.

Enemies: they are a mixture of Hilichurls, Mitachurls, Samachurls, Treasure Hoarders, Fatui Cicins, and Fatui Mirror Maidens. Enemies with stars over their heads will provide more points when defeated.

Tips

Kazuha is an excellent unit for crowd control. With his E, he can group up enemies, perfect for setting up a shot with the Fayz Potion. He’s also wearing the Viridescent Venerer set, which means he can boost the damage of the Pyro characters in the team by decreasing the targets’ elemental RES.

The provided team is a solid party. With Pyro Resonance and a VV-wearing Anemo character, it’s a recipe for significant damage output. Especially since Bennett’s here, he’s been a staple support for various meta teams.

A good rotation would be Bennet>Kazuha>Xiangling>Dehya, as this ensures that you Swirl Pyro for the RES shred and have an ATK buff active for Xiangling and Dehya’s Bursts. Of course, using their Elemental Skills is also interspersed with that rotation to ensure you have enough energy for the next cycle.

Use the Fayz Potion when ready, as the extra Dendro DMG and aura application can help defeat the enemies and get higher points.

The Repetition of Mechanical Structures

Trial Characters: Kaveh, Collei, Xingqiu, Sangonomiya Kokomi

Supersense Skill: Storm Sabers will target the enemies who had their weaknesses exposed. These swords will continuously deal Hydro DMG to enemies within their range. They will also increase the Elemental Mastery of your party by 120 for a short period.

Buffed State: More Storm Sabers will appear. They will have increased damage and increase your party’s Elemental Mastery by 200 instead.

Enemies: Mitachurls, Ronin and Kairagi, various Ruin Machines

Tips

While this round has no crowd-control characters, the enemies will usually come to you. This party is centered around the Bloom reaction, Kaveh’s specialty. He can trigger the Bloom Cores to explode when using his E or activating his Burst.

Afterward, he can continue making new seeds as his Q gives him a Dendro infusion. Combined with Xingqiu’s Burst or Kokomi’s E, creating new Bloom Cores is easy as pie. Use Collei’s abilities, too, as she’s wearing the Deepwood set that can lower the targets’ Dendro RES.

You can choose your own rotation version, as Kokomi is not using the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers. She’s also wearing an Ocean-Hued Clam set, which is added damage but does not provide any buffs. Since you don’t have to switch her in before your main DPS (which is likely Kaveh), you can put her in any position in the rotation. Still, make it a regular cycle so you don’t have to think about it.

General Tips and Tricks

You can switch the order of your party before entering combat. Going near the trigger point (giant key) will give you a choice to either ‘Start Challenge’ or ‘Party Setup.’ You can’t change who you’re using, only their numbered order.

That said, having a pre-set party means you don’t have to think about the artifacts and weapons of the characters. It won’t be what you’re used to, but if you’re the type to borrow from your other units, you won’t need to keep track of where the artifact/weapon went.

You can check the trial characters’ equipment by entering the domain and clicking the Character Menu on the top right. As mentioned, the trial characters would have different sets from what you gave them (if you have them). This changes some things, especially in rotation order.

It’s a fantastic event to try out some characters you may not have yet. While the test runs are good, this is a different trial with varied party members. You might realize that a character fits a party composition you needed and start saving for the next time they become available.

The game does not provide emblems, but it keeps track of your combat score. Some players have fun with the time-dilation effect, taking photos or videos that are otherwise unobtainable. The developers also noticed this and made each challenge a different environment. However, because of the mechanics, they did limit the characters you could take pictures of.

If Primogems are the only concern, you don’t need to earn a high score. All you need is to take pictures of vulnerable points, and you can get the Primos. Still, having the Ascension materials can ease your farming later, so try to get all three objectives as much as possible.

Have Fun in the Fayz Trials!

Combat is one of the best things about Genshin Impact. Yet, the Fayz Trials provide a unique picture opportunity due to the Fayz Potion’s time-dilation effect. It’s the perfect time to enjoy both of these aspects and not worry about having high scores.

It’s unlike the currently running Feast of Departed Warriors, where combat is the true focus. Travelers must defeat bosses as fast as possible; the scores also matter for that event. In the Fayz Trials, the score is an afterthought, and the minimum you need is only 2000 for the reward.
