Elon Musk claims he can’t bring himself to play the GTA series because he finds it too disturbing to shoot virtual cops
Elon Musk has expressed his discomfort with the (one specific) crime in the Grand Theft Auto series, which is incidentally named after another specific crime. He mentioned his inability to complete the prologue of GTA 5, which involves shooting police officers in its opening scene, as he disliked this particular criminal aspect of the game.
This sentiment was shared in a post on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Despite the excitement surrounding the newly released trailer for “GTA VI,” set in a fictional version of Miami named Vice City and scheduled for release in 2025, Musk’s aversion to the game’s violent and crime-centered narrative remains.
His stance on fictionalized violence starkly contrasts his recent bold, explicit remarks to advertisers at the New York Times’ DealBook conference, his endorsement of controversial content on social media, and his completion of other games which involve real-world crimes (particularly murder), such as Diablo 4 or Cyberpunk 2077, or Elden Ring.
