Lying is one of the fundamental aspects of Lies of P. Being honest or deceitful impacts how the story evolves as you progress into the game. There are multiple instances where you will be given a choice to tell the Truth or Lie. This guide will show you where and when you will be making a tough decision.

What are the Effects of Telling a Truth or a Lie?

The Truth or Lie choices impact a lot of aspects of the game. It has the most bearing on the outcome of the story. However, other rewards exist for engaging in this interaction with appropriate responses. Here are the consequences of your choices in Lies of P:

  • Multiple Endings: One of the most profound impacts of your truth and lie decisions is their influence on the game’s endings. “Lies of P” offers three distinct conclusions, each with its narrative path. While one ending is readily available by default, the other two are unlocked through your predominant choices of honesty or deception, coupled with critical decisions in the game’s climax. 

Notably, achieving a “lies only” or “truths only” playthrough is unnecessary for attaining the ‘Rise of P’ or ‘Free from a Puppet String’ endings. The objective is to lean predominantly towards either lies or truths. However, a consistent approach is advised to ensure your desired outcome. Your responses in these decisive moments trigger notifications reflecting P’s evolving perception, impacting his springs, gears, ergo, and warmth.

  • The Golden Lie Secret Weapon: Among the rewards in “Lies of P” is the enigmatic “Golden Lie” secret weapon. This unique item can be acquired from the mysterious “Portrait of a Boy.” An exciting transformation occurs once you display this remarkable artifact within Hotel Krat. 

A branch laden with leaves begins to sprout and grow. However, obtaining this distinctive weapon follows specific criteria. To unlock it, you must opt to lie consistently throughout your playthrough. Furthermore, playing all the records you’ve gathered along the way is essential. This exceptional weapon becomes accessible during a post-campaign stage, distinct from the New Game Plus mode.

  • Record Rewards: Your choices regarding truth and lies also impact the records you uncover in the game. Certain characters in “Lies of P” engage you in dialogues where your responses shape the course of the narrative. You’ll be rewarded with particular records based on your chosen path of honesty or deceit. These records provide valuable insights into the game’s lore, character backgrounds, and the intricate world you navigate.

List of All Truth or Lie Choices

There are at least 15 Truth or Lie encounters, which will be scattered throughout Krat. Each of them will have various impacts or rewards depending on your response. Here are all the scenarios where you can Lie:

Woman in the Window

  • Description: You encounter a silhouetted woman in an apartment window on Elysion Boulevard who asks if her baby is adorable. You must agree to find her baby, then bring her the Broken Baby Puppet.

    • Lie: “That’s a cute baby.”
  • Outcome:
    • Truth: You receive a Vivid Ergo Fragment and Feel.
    • Lie: Pinocchio’s humanity grows.

Alidoro (St. Frangelico Chapel Library)

  • Description: Encounter Alidoro in the St. Frangelico Chapel Library and decide if you know of a safe area.
  • Location: St. Frangelico Chapel Library.
  • Choices:
    • Truth: “Hotel Krat.”
    • Lie: “Venigni Works.”
  • Outcome:
    • Truth: Alidoro becomes a vendor in Hotel Krat with various weapons and amulets for sale.
    • Lie: Alidoro becomes a vendor at Venigni Works Workshop Union.

Julian the Gentleman (Rosa Isabelle Street Culvert)

  • Description: Meet Julian, the Gentleman, near the Street Culvert Stargazer on Rosa Isabelle Street, and help him retrieve his deceased wife’s belongings.
  • Location: Rosa Isabelle Street Culvert.
  • Choices:
    • Truth: “I’ve never seen that happen before.”
    • Lie: “I saw her message saying she loves you.”
  • Outcome:
    • Truth: You receive a Radiant Ergo Fragment.
    • Lie: You obtain Julian’s Wedding Ring and a Sad Gesture.

Lady Antonia (Hotel Krat)

  • Description: Speak with Lady Antonia in Hotel Krat after defeating the King of Puppets boss in the Opera House.
  • Location: Hotel Krat.
  • Choices:
    • Truth: “There is nothing left.”
    • Lie: “Of course.”
  • Outcome:
    • Truth: There are no items received for either option.
    • Lie: Points with Lady Antonia for good manners (no objects).

Polendina (Hotel Krat)

  • Description: After talking to Antonia in Hotel Krat, find Polendina in the garden leading to City Hall and converse about puppet-human love.

  • Outcome:

  • Description: Receive the Four-Fingered Gloves from Eugenie in Hotel Krat and give them to Alidoro in the Barren Swamp.

  • Description: After defeating the Black Rabbit Brotherhood 2.0 in the Relic of Trismegistus, confront Alidoro and Eugenie in Hotel Krat and learn their true identities.
  • Location: Hotel Krat and Relic of Trismegistus.
  • Choices:
    • Truth (Option 1): “The fake one murdered the real Alidoro.”
    • Truth (Option 2): “He was Eugenie’s older brother.”
    • Lie: “I think he’s just a talented Stalker.”

  • Description: After clearing the Black Rabbit Brotherhood 2.0 encounter, speak to Venigni in Hotel Krat to hear a transmission mentioning Geppetto.
