Dave The Diver has sold 3 million copies globally
One of the standouts in 2023 for gaming was Dave The Diver, a charming adventure filled with subaquatic culinary wonders. Recently, developer Mintrocket broke the news on X (Twitter) that they’ve surpassed 3 million global sales, alongside a new art from the game to celebrate the huge milestone. Selling 3 million copies is no easy feat, considering that Dave The Diver is Mintrocket’s first title.

Dave The Diver is A Success, Recently Received Best ‘Sit Back & Relax Game’ Award
Dave The Diver officially launched for PC and macOS on June 28, 2023. We say this because the game was already available before its full release through Steam Early Access since October 2022. It also eventually became available for the Nintendo Switch in October 2023.
While it’s viewed as an indie title, by no means is it created by a small-time developer. Dave The Diver’s developer—Mintrocket—is, in fact, a subsidiary of Nexon. Known as a South Korean conglomerate responsible for franchises like Dungeon & Fighter and Maplestory. Nexon also owns other studios, including Pixelberry, Big Huge Games, AGBO, and more. Some of you may know Nexon from their recent kerfuffle with IRONMACE about the Dark and Darker situation, leading to DnD being taken off of Steam.
Despite this, Dave The Diver has secured a Best Indie Game nomination for last year’s The Game Awards event. It unfortunately lost to Sea of Stars (which is a fantastic title that harkens back to the Suikoden games, by the way). At the very least, it was given the award of best ‘Sit Back & Relax Game’ during the 2023 Steam Awards.
What’s Dave The Diver All About?
You control Dave, a rotund fellow who dives during the day. Besides searching for treasure and fish and completing quests, you must run a sushi restaurant at night. What makes Dave The Diver unique is its capability to blend different gameplay types while not being too overwhelming for the player.
The game received positive reviews only from word-of-mouth during its PC release in June 2023. Then, the Switch release later in October further bolstered it to fame.
