The Best WoW Professions for Gold that you don’t want to miss

By | May 9th, 2018 | Categories: World of Warcraft

Contrary to popular belief, amassing gold in World of Warcraft isn’t rocket science. Arguably one of the best ways for increasing your gold-earning potential is by utilizing the Best WoW Professions for Gold.

Profiting from professions is even more impressive if you’re not keen on engaging in monotonous (for the most part) gold farming.

And with the help of this post, you’ll have the chance to get yourself familiar with the top professions that can significantly increase the amount of gold you’re currently getting.

What Are the Most Profitable Profession Types?

  1. Gathering
  2. Production/crafting

No surprises here since these two particular profession categories have been providing WoW players with sustainable profit for a long time now. Before we move on to the actual professions, let’s see what these profession kinds mean:

Gathering Professions

These let you harvest ores, herbs, meat, leather etc. Eventually, these resources can be used by other professions in order to create consumables, items, gear and so forth. Alternatively, you can sell some of the things you’ve gathered directly on the Auction House – if they’re BoE of course.

Crafting Profession

To craft anything, you require materials and these materials come from the gathering profs. These enable you to create anything from powerful gear and even trade goods. As you might’ve guessed, selling certain high-demand weapons, armor etc. can turn out to be a rather lucrative in-game business.

The great about these two profession categories is that they go hand in hand, meaning you can combine them to great effect. For example, you can pick Mining as your gathering prof and then choose Blacksmithing for crafting, thus feeding your production profession through the materials you gather while questing or deliberately looking for resources nodes.

The 3 Best Professions in WoW to Make Lots of Gold

While some players might argue that choosing the best profession is subjective. However, when it comes to the ones that have the most significant gold-earning potential in Legion, there’s really no way to be subjective.

1. Herbalism

This is undoubtedly one of the most straightforward professions in World of Warcraft and it also happens to be an incredibly profitable one. It’s not much different in Legion and if you fancy roaming the Broken Isles for herbs, here are a few ones that you can gather and then sell on the AH for profit:

Starlight Rose

  • Found in: Suramar, Broken Isles
Average price on the AH (per piece): 39 gold

Foxflower

  • Found in: Highmountain, Broken Isles
Average price on the AH (per piece): 15 gold

Astral Glory

  • Found in: Mac’Aree (Argus)
Average price on the AH (per piece): 15 gold

Fjarnskaggl

  • Found in: Stormheim, Broken Isles
Average price on the AH (per piece): 14 gold

And if you’d like to increase your herb-gathering speed and subsequently your gold-earning potential from Herbalism, then consider taking advantage of these 3 items:

2. Enchanting

There’s a reason why enchanting has been one of the most sought-after professions in WoW for years. The simplicity and profitability of this profession are what makes it so appealing, as everything you need is materials for disenchanting that you can craft enchants with and eventually you end up selling these enchants for profit.

And if you want to know which enchants bring the most profit, here are the most lucrative ones:

Mark of the Hidden Satyr

Mark of the Trainer Soldier

Mark of the Distant Army

Mark of the Ancient Priestess

3. Blacksmithing

In Legion, Blacksmithing offers a superb potential for decent profit and it’s also a great option for more casual players. By focusing on crafting the more profitable items, you should be able to acquire a hefty amount of gold.

If you have your Blacksmith level maxed out (800), then consider these two craftable items for maximum profit:

Steelhound Harness (Mount)

Rethu’s Incessant Courage (Waist, Plate)

As you can clearly see, investing some time in acquiring the needed materials for these incredibly profitable items, will earn you boatloads of gold. However, due to the more complicated nature of Blacksmithing, it only takes the bronze in this list.

Wrapping It Up

No one can doubt the gold-making potential of Herbalism, Enchanting, and Blacksmithing. Those are three of the original WoW professions that were released with the initial version of the game, known to us hardcore World of Warcraft fans as “vanilla”.

And they’re arguably still as profitable as they were back in the days, albeit selling for bigger numbers nowadays due to the massive inflation that this MMORPG has seen with the introduction of every new expansion.

But hey, if you’re looking for a much more straightforward and effortless method for getting as much gold as you’d like, your only reasonable and secure option is our unique WoW marketplace. This is the go-to place for obtaining gold the easy and fast way.

Over to you know – what’s your favorite profession for earning lots of gold? Also, do you think that gathering professions are more lucrative or crafting is the way to go if you want to cash out? Leave a comment with your answer in the comment section below.

I’ve been looking at AH prices and cloth is really cheap at the low levels, so with a few gold you can level your tailoring to 300 fairly efficiently. The reason is that you get cloth drops whether you’re a tailor or not so everyone ends up stuck with cloth they don’t need and either vendors it or AHs it. That’s different from not everyone taking mining or herbalism to gather mats.

I might catch some flak for this but just wanted to chime in with my tips for a beginner in WoW.

Without a doubt the quickest, best way to start earning gold in WoW is collecting and selling various different types of cloth. You can go down the route of tailoring to do this in conjunction and make some extra gold in the process. But if you can consistently get cloth, you’re going to be able to sell that in the auction house for good prices. Hope this helps someone and thanks for the useful article 🙂
