The Tai Bwo Wannai Trio OSRS quest serves as a follow on from the short Jungle Potion quest. It expands the narrative in which the Tai Bwo Wannai chief asks for your assistance in reuniting his sons. To do this, you will be required to find each of the three sons, and will have to help them individually with a certain task. These tasks include coming up against the Shaikahan, catching Karambwan, and finding foodstuffs. By doing so, you will be able to convince the sons to go back to Tai Bwo Wannai.

In this quest guide, we will outline the following:

  • Skill and Item Requirements
  • Quest Guide
  • Quest Rewards

There are several skill and item requirements for you to take on board before starting the quest, so lets take a look at what you will need.

If you’re on a questing spree, check out these OSRS quest guides!

Tai Bwo Wannai Trio OSRS Quest Requirements

Skill Requirements

First of all, you will have to have completed the Jungle Potion quest before attempting the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest. In terms of your skills, you are going to need 15 Agility, 30 Cooking and 5 Fishing. This is a long quest, so naturally there is a lot of item requirements to go with these skills.

Item Requirements

For starters, you will need to have 30 Coins so you can purchase Karamjan Rum, which will become apparent later on. You are also required to have a knife, agility potions, a small fishing net, two logs, a tinderbox and a spear, which you will want to at least be a Steel Spear. There is a number of items that can be obtained during the quest that you’ll need, such as the sliced banana, pestle and mortar, seaweed, and Jogre bones. Finally, take either Ranged or Magic equipment that you can use to kill a monkey. Its strongly recommended that you take food, antipoisions, an Amulet of Glory, a Brimhaven and Rimmington teleport and some weight-reducing clothing with you as well.

Tai Bwo Wannai Trio OSRS Guide

To begin, head over to the Musa Point banana plantation via teleport along with an Amulet of Glory, and go ahead and pick a banana. After that, head down to the Karamja Spirits Bar to the south, where you will need to buy Karamja Rum. Use your knife to slice the banana, then add it to your rum, and make sure to do this before you leave the island. This is an item that you will need later in the quest.

Head south again to Tai Bwo Wannai where you can find a house to speak to Timfraku. This is who you need to speak to in order to advance the quest, who will task you with finding his three sons. It’s recommended that you head to Cairn Isle beforehand to give Tinsay the rum, as it will be one of the requirements later on.

Tamayu

The first son to head to will be Tamayu, who can be found at the mine to the south-east. He will agree to go back to Tai Bwo Wannai once the Shaikahan has been killed. Agree to join him and you will see a cutscene in which he is overpowered by the Shaikahan. This is where your required skills will come in, but first head to the pond to the south-west and fish for Karambwanji. You should fish for at least 22 of these, as you will need to poison your spear to give to Tamayu.

Head north-west if don’t have a Pestle and Mortar, as you can head to the Jiminua’s Jungle Store to purchase one. After this your Brimhaven Teleport could come in handy, as you will want to speak to Lubufu by Brimhaven’s southern shore. Select the “Talk about him” option and ask him what his age is, and offer to help him collect bait. He will ask you to catch 20 Karambwanji, so give him the fish you caught earlier.

Then you will need to ask how he catches Karambwan and what he does to them, which will prompt him to ask if you want to become his apprentice. By doing this, he will give you a Karambwan Vessel and tell you that you need to fill it with Karambwanji to be used as bait. You should drop the vessel from your inventory so you can ask Lubufu for more, so you should collect an extra for yourself, Tiadeche and Tinsay. Afterwards, use a Raw Karambwanji on one of the vessels that you have collected.

Tiadeche

Your next task will be to head to the north-east section of the Karamja jungle, where you will find Tiadeche. By speaking to him he will inform you that he will go back to Tai Bwo Wannai if you teach him to catch Karambwan. Use the vessel that you used the Karambwanji on before and he will give you a raw Karambwan, before sending you to visit his brother Tinsay.

Whilst you are here, grab the seaweed found here as you are going to need it later. Cook the Karambwan to make a poison Karambwan, then use the Pestile and Mortar to make Karambwan paste. Combine this with the spear, then you’ll have a Karambwan Poisoned Spear. It shouldn’t have to be said, but don’t eat the Poison Karambwan!

Go back to Tamayu to the south. You are going to need the required Jogre bones, so if you don’t have them already be sure to kill a Jogre and pick up the bones whilst you are making tracks. Head over to the west of the mine, and give him the newly poisoned spear, as well as using your agility potions on him. This time, Tamayu will be successful when you join him on his hunt, and will promise to go back to the village after you speak to his father and brothers. Your next task will be to head to Tinsay in Cairn Isle, but before doing so, kill a Monkey and use it on Tamayu, which will give you the Monkey Bones and Skin.

Tinsay

Next, head to Cairn Isle and find the rockslide. Across the bridge you will find Tinsay, who will tell you he is trying to fix the village’s Tribal Statue. Tinsay will ask for three items, but first you will want to use one of the Karambwan vessels that you obtained earlier. In return you’ll get a Crafting Manual, that you will need to give to Tiadeche.

Karamjum Rum (Banana)

The first of these items is the Banana Rum which, if you followed this guide, you should have given to Tinsay earlier. If not, head to the liquor store at Musa Point to purchase Karamjan Rum. From there, head to the general store and use a knife to slice a banana and combine it with the rum to make Karamjan Rum (Banana).

Seaweed Sandwich

Next you will need to have the Seaweed and Monkey Skin that we also acquired earlier in this guide. Remember you can collect Seaweed from the beach, and kill a monkey with Ranged or Magic gear to take to Tamayu to get you the Monkey Skin.

Marinated Jogre Bones

The last item will see you using the Jogre Bones you got from killing the Jogre eariler. Firstly, use your Tinderbox on the bones, or find a furnace if your Firemaking is below 30. Next, use your Pestle and Mortar to grind up raw Karambwanji to make the paste. Combine this with the bones to get Pasty Jogre Bones. Finally, cook them on a fire or a range to get the Marinated Jogre Bones.

Once you have the three items, give them to Tinsay who will agree to return to Tai Bwo Wannai. Remember that you also received the Crafting Manual earlier from giving Tinsay the Karmabwan vessel, so take it back to Tiadeche who will also agree to go back to Tai Bwo Wannai.

Finishing Tai Bwo Wannai Trio OSRS

To finally complete the quest, head back to the north-west of Tai Bwo Wannai to speak to Timfraku to finish it. You will want to speak to the three brothers afterwards in their respective shops to get the skill experience.

Tai Bwo Wannai Trio OSRS Quest Rewards

There are a number of rewards that you will receive for completing the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio OSRS quest. As well as two quest points, you will also gain 5,000 Cooking and Fishing experience, and 2,500 Attack and Strength experience. This experience is what you will gain from talking to the brothers after you have completed the quest. You will also receive 2,000 coins for your troubles, plus the Karambwan Poisoned spear from speaking to Tamayu.

You will also gain access to Tamayu’s Spear Stall and Tiadeche’s Karambwan Stall. A number of abilities will become available too, such as the ability to pray when you get to the tribal statue that’s now repaired. You can also catch and cook Karambwans once you have spoken to Tiadeche and Tinsay. If you want to do battle with the Shaikahan, you can now do so, and use Tai Bwo Wannai teleport scrolls. Finally, you can now participate in the Smithing part of Otto’s Barbarian Training if you wish.

That is everything you need to know about completing the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio OSRS quest. It is a lenghty quest, but there are plenty of rewards for you to reap by doing it.
