Palworld became a massive hit over the past two weeks, showing no signs of slowing down. Despite many bugs and glitches hindering players’ experience, the game has enjoyed an enormous following. Fortunately, Pocketpair just released an announcement detailing the game’s Roadmap, so gamers should expect various Palworld improvements over the coming weeks.

What’s in the Early Access Roadmap?

The Roadmap shows a lot of future updates coming to the game. Though it doesn’t provide specific details on how these changes would be done, the general pointers address significant issues and areas that need massive improvements and fixes. Here is what we can expect from the Roadmap:

Planned Future Updates

  • PvP
  • Raid Bosses (Additional End-Game Content)
  • Pal Arena
  • Steam-Xbox Crossplay
  • Improvements in Xbox Features
  • Server Transfers and Migrations
  • Improvements to the Building System
  • Additional Content (Islands, Pals, Bosses, and Technologies)

Fixing Critical Issues

  • Troubleshooting Major Bugs
  • Rollbacks
  • Corrupt Saves
  • Stuck in Loading Screen

Major Improvements

  • UI Optimization and Configuration
  • Pal AI and Pathing Improvements

The most important part of this Roadmap is the plan to address the critical issues in the game. There are many bugs, ranging from loading screen issues to corrupt saves. These problems have caused a lot of frustration in the community, but not enough to stop players from playing the game. Focusing on these issues first will help improve the enjoyability of Palworld.

Pocketpair should note that these bugs should be prioritized over newer content. Glitches and other issues are well-known game killers, especially if they go unaddressed for too long. These problems need to be resolved in the following weeks to maintain the hype and popularity of the game.

Improvements to the Pal AI are the next most important part of the Roadmap. The creatures could be more reliable when placed in structures or environments with more complex designs. Bases with multiple floors tend to mess up with the Pals’ pathing, so they cannot navigate the structure. In addition, Base Pals have a problem with doing work. Most of the time, these workers won’t detect ongoing or pending activities, so they won’t assist in the process despite having the appropriate work suitability.

The game’s unique interaction with Pals and how they are used are some of Palworld’s key selling points. Devs could quickly lose the community’s support if they cannot optimize their AI. With the Roadmap confirming improvement on these systems, players should expect more enjoyable experiences with managing their Pals.

While more content should be their least priority due to the current situation, they are a welcome addition to the Roadmap. Detailing plans for future new features help players be more excited with the game beyond the current issues. Additional PvP features and raids are something that many players would be happy with.

We have yet to get precise details on what these new contents are. However, gamers can expect that new Pals and islands would be introduced later down the line. The question is when and how these additional features will be introduced to the game.

One of the most requested features is crossplay between Steam and Xbox. Currently, players cannot join the same server if they are playing on different platforms. Gamers would be happy to be able to play with all their friends once the crossplay feature goes online. Xbox players will also receive further optimization on their part. This platform has less gameplay stability than Steam gamers, so PocketPair addressing these issues is an excellent plan to expand its community.

Palworld Soars to New Heights Despite Issues

Palworld continues to gain more players as the week goes on. The game has already garnered 8,000,000 tamers on Steam in just a few days, and this number does not include those who chose to play on Xbox. The game continues to grow despite the various issues plaguing it due to Palworld’s unique gameplay and ingenuity.

Aside from the bugs, Palworld received flak from Pokemon fans regarding similar designs between certain Pals and Pokemons to the point that the game has been called a rip-off. Nintendo also plans to pursue legal actions against Palworld modders and, possibly, Pocketpair itself. However, these problems have not kept gamers from buying and playing the game.

When Will the Updates Go Live?

While Pocketpair released a roadmap, they have not explicitly stated when they will implement these updates. Devs also should have disclosed if these changes will arrive as one big major patch or in small batches. Gamers will have to wait for further announcements regarding the timeline of the Roadmap.
